Gender reveal decorations built around the moment

The pink-and-blue wall, the reveal itself and everything the camera will see behind it. We plan the setup around where people will stand and where the phone will be pointing, because that ten seconds is the whole reason for the party.

One moment, and everyone is filming it

A gender reveal is not really a party with decorations. It is one short moment that a room full of people will record on their phones, and the decorations exist to make that recording look good. Everything else — the food, the seating, the music — is around the edges of it.

So we build backwards from the shot. Where will the parents stand? Which way is the sun at that hour? Where do the guests end up, and does the backdrop still read behind them? Get that right and the photo works on the first take, which matters because there is only one take.

Ways to do the reveal

Pick one, or combine a couple so there is a build-up before the answer.

🎁

Reveal box

A closed box that opens to release balloons in the colour. The calmest option, the easiest to film, and the one that works indoors without anything blowing around.

🎊

Confetti balloon

A large black balloon filled with coloured confetti, popped by the parents. Loud, fast and very photogenic — and it leaves confetti to clean up, which is worth knowing indoors.

💨

Powder balloon

Colour that hangs in the air for a second or two instead of falling straight down — the version that photographs best. Outdoors only, and the wind decides which way it goes.

🧱

The wall behind it

A half-blue, half-pink balloon wall with a neon sign, or a softer arch in both colours. This is what the camera sees for the whole party, not just the moment.

🍰

Cake and dessert staging

Plinths and stands so the cake, the cupcakes and the gifts sit at different heights in front of the wall rather than flat on a table.

👶

Straight into a baby shower

Many reveals turn into the shower on the same day or a few weeks later. We can plan both so the second setup builds on the first instead of repeating it.

How we keep it a surprise

If the parents do not want to know either, the secret has to live somewhere.

Someone tells us, not you

The doctor's envelope goes to a friend, a relative or straight to us. From that point the colour is ours to know and nobody at the party has to keep a straight face.

Neutral until the moment

Everything visible beforehand stays in both colours — the wall, the props, the cake table. Nothing on site gives it away, including our own boxes and bags.

We set the shot up

We show you where to stand, where the guests should be, and which way to face so the light and the backdrop both work. It takes a minute and it saves the photo.

Then the party carries on

The setup stays up afterwards for photos with guests, and we come back for anything rented once everyone has gone.

Gender reveal questions

Can you keep the secret from us as well?

Yes, and it is the most common way we do it. The envelope comes to us directly or through someone who is not at the party, and neither of you has to pretend. Everything visible beforehand stays in both colours.

Indoors or outdoors — which works better?

Both work, but they change the reveal. Powder needs open air and behaves however the wind decides. Confetti indoors means confetti on the floor afterwards. A reveal box is the safest choice inside, and the balloon wall looks the same either way.

How far ahead should we book?

Reveals cluster on weekends, so the earlier the better — especially if you want a specific date rather than a specific week. Rental pieces go first. Last minute is worth asking about; we do take it when the schedule allows.

Does it have to be pink and blue?

No. Plenty of people go with softer or completely different palettes and keep the colour only for the reveal itself. Send us what you have in mind and we will build the setup around it.

Can you do it at our house?

Most of them are at homes — living rooms, gardens, by the pool. Send a photo of the space and we will tell you what fits and where the setup should face.

How long does the setup take?

We arrive well before your guests and build on site. The exact time depends on the size of the wall, but the plan is always the same: finished, checked and photographed before the first person arrives.

When is the reveal?

Tell us the date and the space. We will come back with a setup and a price — and we can hold the secret from that first message.
